The Natural Theatre Company is looking for a male actor to play the role of Harry Beck. We would like you to have a permanent base in London.
About The Show:
The history of Harry Beck and the development of his iconic Tube Map.
Playing Age: 45- 60 years.
Versatility to play their younger self and talk directly to the audience
Show running time: 1 hour (no interval)
Cast: 2 – Harry Beck and Nora Beck

Harry Beck is an engineer – quite bolted down – very fixed on his work. He has a loving relationship with his wife, with whom he develops ideas. The couple retell their story with Nora taking on all the key characters in the development of the tube diagram. The time spans from the late 1920s to the early 1970s (which bookends the play). The show is gently funny, heart-warming and also informative.
We are looking for a male actor of the correct playing age who is funny, warm but good at remembering geeky stuff.
Contract:
Publicity shoots are required in advance .
Rehearsals start: Wed 28th August.
There is 4 weeks of rehearsal, previews and performances until Sunday 22nd Sept. Thereafter performances are every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Contract ends 5th January 2025.
However, after 6 weeks of performances a 2 week break clause exists. This means that from Sunday 20th October our partners at Dan Coleman Creative and The London Transport Museum, may decide to close the run on a rolling 2 week notice period. This means that performances are guaranteed to run until 3rd Nov. It is hoped performances will run until 5th January.
The first 4 weeks are paid at the Natural Theatre Company weekly rate, which is equivalent amount of pay to Equity (£648 p/w including holiday). Thereafter, it is paid at 3 “high days” per weekend (£141.50 per day including holiday)
