Let our work take you on a journey through human history!
Salvete, pilgrims! We are the company in residence at the Roman Baths in Bath and can be seen performing there 363 days a year. From curses etched into pieces of pewter to mouthwash made from Portuguese urine, we live the Roman dream on the daily! We can offer bespoke Roman projects upon request.
Our walkabout show, Shakespeare Begins, will take you on a theatrical journey in which the best bits of the Tudor period come to life around you. First performed onboard the SS Great Britain in Bristol, this hilarious show repurposes extracts from Romeo & Juliet, As You Like It, Macbeth, and more!
John Wood, Beau Nash, and William Beckford. They’re stylish, they’re spoilt, they’re coy and coquettish. Experts in etiquette, they know how to behave in polite society; but rules are meant to be broken. Let our actors transport you to the grandeur of Georgian Britain. We can bring duels and fops to life before your very eyes!
Seeing as we’re based in Bath, we can’t not do Regency! Located in the middle of the Georgian era, the Regency birthed one of Britain’s most iconic authors: Jane Austen. With frivolous dandies and romantic heroines at every turn, we bring her work to life in the very flash of a bonnet!
Industrial workers, local farmers, well-to-do (albeit stern) gentlemen, and Mary Poppins. These identities perfectly characterize Queen Victoria’s Britain. Our residency at the late- Victorian Tyntesfield House in Somerset brought its famous residents back to life and brought Victorian history to the forefront of the estate’s many visitors.
Our interpretations of WW1 have centred on the soldiers back home and their recovery from injury. Our community project, Roads to Recovery, was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. We worked extensively in schools, youth centres, and colleges to explore the true stories of local soldiers. The project evolved into a takeover of Bath’s Queen Square, thus transforming it into a field hospital.
As we arrive in the 20th century, there is no shortage of history left to be told. We are drawn to the stories of those unsung heroes and heroines that helped shape our contemporary lives. The Truth About Harry Beck, a two-hander written by our company director Andy Burden, premiered in 2024 at the London Transport Museum. It chronicles the life of Harry Beck, the man behind the iconic (yet often taken for granted) London tube diagram.
